Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
ChargeClub is designed to provide useful information about EV home-charging reward programs while limiting the amount of personal information we collect.
This Privacy Policy explains what information ChargeClub collects when you use ChargeClub.ca, why we collect it, how it is used and the choices available to you.
1. Information you choose to provide
Most of ChargeClub can be used without providing your name, email address or other directly identifying information.
If you use a submission, question or correction form, we collect the information you enter into that form.
Depending on the form, this may include:
- your message;
- an email address, if you choose to provide one;
- the program or page related to your submission; and
- other information you voluntarily include in your message.
You do not need to include sensitive personal information in a submission, and we ask that you avoid doing so unless it is genuinely necessary to your request.
2. Spam and abuse prevention
ChargeClub uses limited technical information to help prevent automated spam and abuse of its forms.
For form submissions, ChargeClub may create and store a one-way hashed identifier derived from network information. This identifier is used for abuse prevention and is not stored as the visitor's raw IP address in the submission record.
The purpose of this identifier is to identify repeated abusive activity without maintaining a directly readable IP-address history alongside submitted messages.
Infrastructure and security providers may process technical information, including IP addresses, as part of ordinary hosting, security, fraud-prevention or network operations. Those systems are separate from ChargeClub's form-submission records.
3. Analytics and cookies
ChargeClub uses analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve the directory.
Optional analytics that use cookies or similar browser technologies are controlled by ChargeClub's consent settings. If you reject optional analytics, those optional analytics technologies are not enabled through ChargeClub's consent mechanism.
ChargeClub may also maintain limited server-side aggregate measurements that do not depend on advertising cookies or persistent user identifiers.
We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and ChargeClub does not sell personal information to advertisers.
You can change your optional analytics preference at any time using the site's control.
4. Referral link counts
ChargeClub counts clicks on links leading to program providers so we can understand which programs and providers visitors choose to explore.
These referral measurements are collected on ChargeClub's servers and do not require advertising cookies or persistent user identifiers.
A referral-click record may include information such as:
- the date of the click;
- the program or provider;
- the type of link or action;
- the site language;
- the visitor's country; and
- for Canadian visitors, the province or territory derived from coarse network location information.
ChargeClub does not intentionally store city-level or precise geolocation in these referral-click records.
ChargeClub does not intentionally retain the visitor's raw IP address as part of the referral-click record.
5. Referral and tracked links
Some outbound links may contain referral or tracking parameters that identify ChargeClub as the source of a visit.
Those parameters may allow a provider to determine that a visitor arrived from ChargeClub or through a particular ChargeClub program link.
ChargeClub does not intentionally include your email address, form-submission content or other directly identifying information in those referral parameters.
Once you leave ChargeClub and visit a provider's website, that provider's own privacy practices apply.
ChargeClub may receive compensation from certain referral relationships where disclosed, but referral compensation does not change the privacy practices described in this policy.
6. Coarse geographic information
ChargeClub may determine a visitor's country and, for Canadian visitors, province or territory from coarse network location information.
We use this information for aggregate site and referral reporting and to understand which programs may be relevant to visitors in different parts of Canada.
ChargeClub does not use this process to intentionally collect or retain precise location, street address or city-level location information.
7. How we use information
ChargeClub uses the information described in this policy only for purposes related to operating, securing and improving the site.
Those purposes include:
- responding to submissions, corrections or questions;
- preventing spam, fraud and abuse;
- understanding site usage in aggregate;
- measuring referral traffic;
- identifying technical problems;
- improving the directory and its content; and
- maintaining the security and reliability of the service.
We do not use information submitted through ChargeClub forms to build advertising profiles.
8. When information may be shared
ChargeClub does not sell personal information.
Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate, host, secure, analyze or deliver the site.
Those providers are permitted to process information only as necessary to provide their services or as otherwise permitted by applicable law and their agreements with us.
ChargeClub may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, protect the security of the site, investigate abuse or protect the rights and safety of ChargeClub, its users or others.
Submitting information to ChargeClub does not make that information public unless you separately agree to publication or intentionally submit it for a public feature.
9. Service providers and processing locations
ChargeClub relies on technology and service providers to operate the site.
Depending on the service, information may be processed or stored outside your province or outside Canada.
When information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws that apply in that jurisdiction.
ChargeClub seeks to limit the information provided to service providers to what is reasonably necessary for the service being performed.
10. Retention
ChargeClub retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for security and abuse prevention, to resolve a request or dispute, or to meet applicable legal obligations.
Different types of information may therefore be retained for different periods.
Aggregate information that no longer identifies an individual may be retained for reporting, historical comparison and site-improvement purposes.
We do not state a fixed retention period where the actual period depends on the type of information and the reason it is being retained.
11. Security
ChargeClub uses reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure.
No Internet service or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If you believe you have discovered a security or privacy issue involving ChargeClub, please contact us through the site's submission form.
12. Your choices and privacy requests
You can use most of ChargeClub without providing directly identifying information.
You may reject optional analytics through the site's consent controls and may change that choice later using .
If you have provided personal information to ChargeClub, you may contact us to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you;
- request access to information associated with you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate;
- request deletion where appropriate; or
- ask a question or raise a concern about how information is handled.
Some requests may require reasonable information to verify that the request relates to you.
Certain information may need to be retained where required or permitted by law, for security purposes, or where deletion would interfere with the rights of another person.
Privacy requests can be submitted through ChargeClub's submission form.
13. Third-party websites
ChargeClub contains links to websites operated by program providers and other third parties.
ChargeClub does not control the privacy, security, cookies or data practices of those websites.
Review the privacy information provided by a third party before submitting personal information to it.
14. Changes to this policy
ChargeClub may update this Privacy Policy as the site, its features or its information practices change.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
Where appropriate, ChargeClub may provide additional notice of a material change.
15. Privacy contact
Questions, concerns, access requests, correction requests and other privacy inquiries can be submitted through ChargeClub's submission form.
Privacy inquiries submitted through the form will be directed to the person responsible for privacy matters for ChargeClub.
