About this program
Connect an eligible OCPP-compatible home charger to the ChargeLab app and earn a flat 10¢ for every kWh you charge, at any time of day; there's no requirement to shift charging times, and no tiers or waiting period. Funded in part by credits ChargeLab earns under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations, which it reinvests in charging infrastructure. The program launched in July 2025 and has paid rewards quarterly since then, in the form of a choice of digital gift cards; ChargeLab advertises cash payouts by the end of 2026, but its terms only commit to gift cards or another method of ChargeLab's choosing.
Eligibility
Legal residents of Canada at the age of majority in their province or territory who own a qualifying charger at a single-family residence; fleet, commercial, multi-unit and shared-use chargers are not eligible. The charger must be registered under a unique ChargeLab account (one per charger) and stay connected to the internet and the ChargeLab app. No subscription or network fees, and participants may opt out at any time.
Hardware & vehicle requirements
Any home charger that properly supports OCPP 1.6 or newer can generally be connected, though some models may require additional configuration before eligibility can be confirmed. It must stay connected to the internet and the ChargeLab app.
Reward structure details
The rate was 3¢/kWh through June 30, 2026, and the current flat rate of 10¢/kWh took effect July 1, 2026. Rewards are calculated quarterly and rounded to the nearest cent. ChargeLab states this averages over $350/year for a typical Canadian EV driver. Minimum quarterly payout is $5; anything less is not paid out for that quarter. Paid as a choice of digital gift cards (Amazon, DoorDash, Starbucks, Visa Prepaid, and others). $25 referral reward per person referred, provided the referred charger is still connected at quarter-end or recorded at least 200 kWh during that quarter. Disconnected chargers can miss or lose rewards.

Rewards are "CA $0.10 per kWh of qualifying residential charging, calculated and disbursed quarterly", computed as "(Total qualifying kWh during quarter) × $0.10, rounded to the nearest cent".
