About this program
Homeowners, tenants, condo communities and businesses across Canada earn 10¢ for every kWh delivered through an eligible Level 2 charger connected to the metroEV app, funded through Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations.
Eligibility
Canadian homeowners and tenants with the legal right to install and operate the charger; individual condo owners with a charger in their unit or exclusive-use parking space; condo corporations with chargers in visitor or other publicly accessible spaces; and businesses with chargers open to the public or to a defined group such as employees, customers or visitors. Homeowners, tenants and individual condo owners must own an EV or PHEV.
Hardware & vehicle requirements
A Level 2 charger that is OCPP-compatible, registered in the metroEV app, and kept online by Wi-Fi or cellular. You can buy a compatible charger from metroEV or enroll an eligible third-party one.
Reward structure details
Only sessions on or after June 1, 2026 are eligible. Rewards are paid annually by direct deposit; metroEV aims to issue payment by June 30 of the following year, though timing depends on the credits being processed and sold. The minimum payout is CAD 100. Smaller balances carry forward, but are forfeited if they stay under CAD 100 for two consecutive calendar years. The charger must stay online; an extended disconnection can end your participation. Enrolment carries a 12-month initial minimum term, during which neither side may cancel without cause. The EULA allows you to cancel within that term only in the exceptions it sets out: selling or permanently vacating the property where the charger is installed, on at least 30 days' written notice and with written evidence, or a material breach by metroEV that it does not cure within 30 days. metroEV may also end your participation on 30 days' written notice if the charger does not generate enough gross carbon-credit revenue to cover metroEV's per-install break-even costs. As a non-binding reference, not a stated eligibility threshold, the EULA says a charger delivering fewer than roughly 1,700–2,500 kWh a year may not cover those costs. Rebates, credits or incentives from federal, provincial or utility programs for the charger or its installation, where you would otherwise be the default beneficiary, are assigned to metroEV by participating. If such a payment is sent to you directly, the EULA requires you to remit the full amount to metroEV within 30 days.
